Palm Trimming
We cut the dead fronds and seed pods off sabal, queen, date and other palms around Tampa. The green fronds stay on, the way UF/IFAS says a palm should be trimmed.

Tree trimming clears the dead branches over the driveway and the limbs rubbing the roof. We trim live oaks, laurel oaks, pines, magnolias, crape myrtles and fruit trees in Tampa and across Hillsborough County. Tree pruning is the same work under its trade name. We also work the corridor north to Crystal River.
Our tracked lift reaches into big oaks over two-story houses, and the crew climbs where the lift cannot go. The brush goes through the chipper and rides out on our trucks, and we rake up before we leave. For palms, see our palm tree trimming page. Call or text (813) 293-2948 for a free estimate.

Crown cleaning comes first: we take out the deadwood and the broken limbs. Crown raising, or canopy lifting, clears the low limbs off the roof and over the driveway. Thinning takes weight off the outer edge of the canopy.
Young oaks get structural pruning: one main trunk, with rival stems cut back while they are small. The UF/IFAS Extension says live oak branches with narrow angles to the trunk are likely to split later. Early work means less trimming to fix problems as the tree grows, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) says.
The ISA says to take no more than a quarter of the crown at once, and less from mature trees. Hillsborough County's pruning guide draws the same 25 percent line for each growing season. HOAs and property managers can set up scheduled trimming for a whole property.
Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and trimming helps a tree ride it out. After Hurricane Andrew in 1992, UF/IFAS found 73 percent of well-trimmed trees survived, against 47 percent of untrimmed ones. UF/IFAS also ranks live oaks high for wind resistance and laurel and water oaks low.
Storm trimming goes after cracked limbs and stems as thick as the trunk they grow from. UF/IFAS says thinning the outer edge of the canopy makes a tree less likely to blow over. Lion-tailing, sometimes sold as a hurricane cut, strips the inner branches and leaves foliage only at the tips. Hillsborough County's guide says wind then twists those limbs and does more damage than to an untrimmed tree.
Limbs on overhead power lines are the utility's work. In Tampa, the city points you to Tampa Electric's line clearance office. When a storm has already split a tree or left limbs hanging, that is emergency tree service work.
Topping cuts limbs back to stubs or to side branches too small to take over. The ISA calls topping unacceptable, and it can remove 50 to 100 percent of the leafy crown. The tree answers with fast sprouts that are weakly attached and prone to breaking in wind.
UF/IFAS notes that many Florida communities outlaw or discourage topping, because it leads to decay. For tree work, UF/IFAS points to the ANSI A300 standard as the industry's best practices. Hillsborough County's code holds all trimming to that standard, and the City of Tampa asks for ANSI standards too. Under the county's code, trimming that breaks the standard can count as removing the tree without a permit.
To reduce a tree's size, we cut limbs back to a side branch at least a third as thick. UF/IFAS warns that topping crape myrtles, known as crape murder, can shorten their lives. When a tree is too big for its spot, the ISA says removing the tree can be the best answer.

I was impressed with the workers. They were respectful of my property. As for the cutting they did exactly what I wanted. The pricing was reasonable.
Very professional and responsive. Quoted fairly & competitively. Showed up on time and did a great job. Highly recommend and would work with again!
I had a tree that was rotten and needed to come down asap. A sharper image gave me an estimate and theirs was significantly less than competitors. Not only did they do the job quickly but they did an outstanding job. So grateful for this tree service. They helped me protect my home!
