Tree Removal
We take down dead and leaning trees of any size, with our crane when a tree hangs over the house. The brush gets chipped and the wood hauled off before we rake the yard.

True to its name, Land O' Lakes holds about 2.3 square miles of water inside its Census boundary. The NRCS maps its most common soil as Adamsville sand, with laurel oaks and water oaks among the native trees. UF/IFAS gives a laurel oak a life span of 50 to 70 years, and a water oak 30 to 50. Dead limbs over the roof and mushrooms at the base are two warning signs UF/IFAS lists.
A Sharper Image Tree Services is based in Tampa with a second shop in Homosassa. We come up from Tampa on US 41 or on the Veterans Expressway and the Suncoast Parkway. Here we handle tree removal and tree trimming, plus palm trimming, stump grinding, storm cleanup and land clearing. Call or text (813) 293-2948 for a free estimate.
Tell us about the tree, the lot or the structure and where it is. We look at the job and put the estimate in writing.
About half the homes in Land O' Lakes were built between 1970 and 1999, per the Census. The median home dates from 1999, and about three in four are detached single-family houses. UF/IFAS hurricane studies place laurel oaks and water oaks in the lowest wind-resistance group. Live oaks and sand live oaks rank highest, and UF/IFAS says live oaks can live for hundreds of years.
Hidden decay shows up as cracks, seams, dead branch stubs and large old wounds, per UF/IFAS. A lean that forms fast, as after a storm, points to partial root failure.
A dead limb can come out with a trim from our tracked lift. When decay reaches the trunk or the main roots, we talk with you about taking the tree down.
The National Hurricane Center's Milton report shows a gust of about 68 mph at a Land O' Lakes station. A rain gauge 3 miles west-northwest of town caught 10.16 inches during the October 2024 storm. Most of Pasco saw gusts of 55 to 65 mph, per the National Weather Service. Rain totals generally ran 8 to 12 inches.
Wet sand and strong gusts are a hard mix for big trees. UF/IFAS notes that leaning trees on saturated soils are more likely to fail. It adds that pines can look fine after a hurricane and decline over time. A slash pine that browns out months after a storm is worth a look.
Pasco County collected about 1.3 million cubic yards of storm debris after Helene and Milton. The county also removed more than 9,000 hazardous trees and branches. When a storm drops a tree on the roof, our emergency tree service makes the site safe first. We document the damage before we cut, and we have worked with homeowners insurance companies on storm jobs.
Land O' Lakes is unincorporated, so Pasco County's tree rules apply. The county's checklist says native trees 5 inches DBH and larger need a permit on a lot with a house. DBH is the trunk diameter measured 4.5 feet above the ground. Palms and non-native trees are exempt, and so is every pine except longleaf pine.
Grand trees and wetlands get extra review, and permits come with a replanting requirement unless the county grants an exemption. The county does not accept leaf drop or looks as a reason for removal. Florida law gives the owner of a single-family home another path for a tree that poses an unacceptable risk. With documentation from an ISA Certified Arborist or a Florida licensed landscape architect, the county cannot require a permit.
Pasco's Building Construction Services handles tree permits and runs a permitting office on Land O' Lakes Boulevard. Deed restrictions and HOA rules can add their own limits. The permit is the property owner's to request, and we can walk you through the county's permit page. Rules change, so check with the county before any cut.
Land O' Lakes counted 35,929 people at the 2020 Census. Connerton, a separate Census community just north of town, has a median home built in 2015. Almost 97 percent of its homes were built in 2000 or later. Unincorporated Pasco permitted 5,131 new single-family homes in 2024 and 5,737 in 2025, per the Census.
Conner Preserve on State Road 52 shows the native ground here: sandhill ridges, marshes, cypress sloughs and pine flatwoods. Part of the preserve was once ranch pasture. Inside Land O' Lakes, the NRCS maps about 12 percent of the ground as hydric soil in wet depressions. Clearing in a wetland generally needs an Environmental Resource Permit from the Southwest Florida Water Management District.
Our land clearing work takes a house lot or acreage down to cleared ground once the permits are in place. Our compact track loader and brush cutter clear the underbrush, and we grind or pull the stumps. We chip or haul the debris, and we can help you figure out what the county needs.

A Sharper Image Tree Service did an excellent job for us. They trimmed and pruned a variety of trees including large live oaks, fishtail palms, areca palms, robellini palms, and crepe myrtles all with great success and many of which were not easy to get to on our property. Tyler and his crew arrived on time, were professional, and very careful not to damage the lawn or any of our property with their equipment.
